The constellation of Canes Venatici soars high in the eastern spring sky, positioned almost overhead around midnight. Also known as the Hunting Dogs, these two stars are roughly a third of the way from the end of the Big Dipper's handle and below it.
Canes Venatici help Bootes, the Bear Driver, hunt Ursa Major (Big Bear) around the pole of the heavens.
